• Character AI: 4 steps. Landing page, one Scene intro card (Cyberpunk Edgerunner), one live Scene chat, then a check of voice calls, group chats and the Scenes library.
• Notes: written live at each step, not cleaned up afterwards. They appear as the yellow notes under each screenshot slot.
• Review check: after testing, I pulled ratings and written complaints for both tools from Trustpilot, Reddit, Product Hunt, Google Play and the App Store, and included the negative ones.
One structural fact to hold onto: SpicyChat AI is an uncensored 18+ platform run by NextDay AI (Montreal), while Character AI is a strictly moderated, family-friendly platform run by Character Technologies. That single difference drives most of what follows.
