Subscription Requirements

The single-stream audio is the genuinely distinctive part. Most video generators produce silent footage that you score afterwards. Grok Imagine predicts picture and sound together, which is why lip sync lands rather than drifting.

Speed is the claim xAI leans on hardest, and it is the claim with the weakest evidence. Two vendor-reported figures circulate, and they contradict each other.

Whichever figure is right, the practical experience is fast enough that the bottleneck is your prompt rather than the render. That is the honest summary, and it does not need a precise number.
Release History

Worth noticing: the paywall came before the video feature, not after. Video launched into an already-restricted product, which is why there was never a period when free users could generate clips.
Constraints
• Anything longer than about 10 seconds. The Extend from Frame feature lets you chain clips by using the last frame as the next starting point, but that is a workaround with visible seams rather than true long-form generation.
• Resolution above 720p. Fine for a social post on a phone. Not fine for anything that will be projected, cropped or run alongside professionally shot footage.
• Multi-shot narrative. One prompt produces one continuous clip. Sequencing, continuity of character across shots, and editing are your job.

Grok generates video competently, cheaply relative to buying a dedicated tool, and only if you pay. Budget 30 dollars a month rather than 10, and treat it as a social content tool rather than a production tool.
• You already pay for SuperGrok or X Premium Plus: You have it. There is nothing further to buy, and it is the best-value video generation available to you because the marginal cost is zero.
