Google has introduced Nano Banana 2 Lite, a new version of its in-house AI image generation system designed to produce visuals faster and at a lower cost than earlier models.
The company says Nano Banana 2 Lite can generate images in about four seconds, making it better suited for users who need to create and revise large batches of visuals quickly. Google is positioning the model as a tool for rapid creative iteration, especially for developers, advertisers and businesses working at scale.
Nano Banana 2 Lite is priced at $0.034 per 1,000 images, according to Google. That lower price could make it more attractive to companies and creators that need to test multiple image concepts without running up large costs.
The model is designed for high-volume workflows rather than advanced creative tasks. Google continues to offer Nano Banana Pro for more demanding use cases, while Nano Banana 2 remains positioned as a broader general-purpose model.
Nano Banana 2 Lite is now available through Google AI Studio, the Gemini API and Google’s Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform. Google says the model will replace the original Nano Banana, which the company now describes as a legacy model.
The release follows the launch of the original Nano Banana last year and Nano Banana 2 earlier this year. Those earlier versions helped Google expand its generative media lineup as competition in AI image and video creation continued to grow.
Alongside Nano Banana 2 Lite, Google also announced a wider release of Gemini Omni Flash, a video-focused AI model first introduced at Google I/O. The model costs $0.10 per second of video output.
Google also demonstrated Omni Product Studio, a new app that can turn static images into cinematic e-commerce videos. The tool shows how Google is trying to connect image generation, video creation and editing into a broader multimedia workflow.
The launch comes as technology companies continue investing heavily in AI-generated images and videos, even as some consumers and creative communities criticize the rise of low-quality AI content.
Google is presenting Nano Banana 2 Lite as a practical tool for commercial and creative production. By emphasizing speed, lower cost and enterprise availability, the company is trying to make AI image generation more useful for teams that need to move from idea to finished visual content quickly.
